Job Description:
Liberty Fruit is a leading wholesale distributor of fresh fruits and vegetables in the Midwest. We are seeking a dynamic individual for the role of Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager for our distribution facility located in Kansas City, KS.
Position Overview:
The Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager will enjoy working in our fast-paced environment, effectively leading the initiative to develop, implement and maintain company and regulatory standards for food safety.
Position Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the Quality Assurance program, including product specification, compliance, HACCP, GMP’s, lot traceability and Supplier Approval requirements.
- Acts as Food Safety liaison for third party audits; regulatory and customer inspections during site visits.
- Participates in product recalls. Maintains procedures and documentation for product recalls and tracking, including mock recalls.
- Works to ensure the Organic certification program is maintained and up-to-date as appropriate.
- Responsible for the daily direction, training, development and reporting of Quality Assurance technicians and the sanitation staff.
- Continually develops and updates knowledge of Food Safety legislation, best practices, and disseminates knowledge to other departments as necessary.
- Works collaboratively across all departments to ensure continued improvement that meets or exceeds company requirements.
- Assures compliance with cGMP’s, written SPO’s and SSOP’s.
- Manages and reports results of all required quality assurance testing.
- Performs and monitors plant inspections for GMP requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- The ideal candidate will have experience working in fresh produce, ready-to-eat, and/or commissary settings.
- BS degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or related discipline. (Equivalent work experience will also be considered).
- HACCP and/or PCQI certified.
- Minimum of 3 years managing in a Food Manufacturing/Processing environment.
- Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
