POSITION SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Senior Supply Chain Operations Manager, the Operations and Quality Control Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient execution of daily operations, inventory management, quality control, and logistics across the Nogales region. This position also serves as a key liaison between our harvesting partners in Mexico and our internal teams to maintain the integrity and quality of our melon supply chain. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced, cross-border environment. A strong background in agricultural operations, grower relations, and inventory systems is essential. Candidates must reside in Nogales, AZ, to effectively manage on-site responsibilities and collaborate with local partners and vendors.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide backup support in inventory systems and daily operational execution.
  • Oversee shipping and receiving processes to ensure timeliness and accuracy.
  • Monitor border crossing activities and maintain data on trends, delays, and risks across Nogales, Yuma, Huron, McAllen, El Paso, and Miami.
  • Support repacking operations, including coaching teams and implementing QC checkpoints
  • Build and maintain strong grower relationships in Mexico and the Nogales region
  • Actively contribute to procurement efforts and support ongoing grower development initiatives.
  • Perform quality inspections and enforce compliance with company standards.
  • Maintain and analyze Excel-based material cost tracking and inventory usage per order.
  • Manage outside purchases and ensure quality is upheld throughout.
  • Serve as the liaison with box, label, and material vendors.
  • Ensure outgoing loads are properly labeled and documented for traceability.
  • Onboard and train seasonal QC team members.
  • Rapidly respond to load or quality issues such as delays, incorrect documentation, or labeling discrepancies.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education and Experience
  • Any combination of education and experience that is likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position will be considered. Typically, this includes:
  • Bachelor’s degree, foreign equivalent, or equivalent work experience in Supply Chain Operations, or a closely related degree from an accredited institution is strongly preferred.
  • 3 years of direct or related experience in operations, logistics, or quality control roles in agriculture or the fresh produce industry.
  • Bi-lingual English Spanish required.

  • Ability to operate a vehicle for visiting operational sites.

  • Ability to work extended hours, evenings and/or weekends as Company needs require.

  • Work Location: Office / Cold Storage Facilities 100%.
  • Stress Level: Moderate to high, particularly high during the peak season. Stress is driven by tight deadlines, multi-tasking, and the fast-paced nature of the fresh produce industry.
  • Temperature: Cold Storage temperatures can range between 35-50 degrees Celsius.

  • Ability to work for extended periods outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Sustained frequent movement of the fingers, wrists, hands, elbows, and arms, with twisting, bending, and stooping.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and focus.
  • Sustained periods of standing and walking during field visits and border points.
