We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Heber, California, providing key support to our CFO and Senior Controller and helping drive our financial operations forward.
About the Role
The Senior Accountant plays a key role in maintaining the financial integrity of our multi-company agricultural operations. You will perform and review daily accounting activities, maintain meticulous financial records, and support month-end close, budgeting, tax preparation, audits, and treasury management.
Success in this role calls for a detail-oriented, self-directed accounting professional who brings strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You will work independently while partnering closely with team members and company leadership in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
What You’ll Do
As our Senior Accountant, you will:
- Perform and review daily accounting operations across general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Assist with the preparation and review of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Help guide smooth month-end and year-end closing processes on schedule.
- Prepare account reconciliations, analyze balances, and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Assist the Controller with annual audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and supporting files.
- Support tax preparation efforts (federal, state, and local) and liaise with outside tax professionals as needed.
- Assist with the preparation and ongoing monitoring of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
- Monitor cash flow and assist with treasury management, including banking activities, cash transfers, and liquidity reporting.
- Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records and ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.
- Review accounting processes continuously to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and accuracy.
- Conduct financial analysis and tackle special projects as requested by the Controller or executive leadership.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial data with high discretion.
What We’re Looking For
The right candidate will combine robust technical accounting knowledge with strong organizational skills and a collaborative mindset, including:
- Experience: 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience (experience mentoring or guiding junior staff is a plus).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Industry Focus: Previous experience in agriculture, perishable food, or multi-entity environments is strongly preferred.
- Credentials: CPA license or active CPA candidacy is a plus, but not required.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of general accounting principles, financial reporting, internal controls, and treasury functions.
- Software: Advanced Microsoft Excel and Office skills. Experience with Famous Software is strongly preferred.
- Analytical & Detail-Oriented: Exceptional problem-solving skills, high accuracy, and the ability to spot trends or discrepancies.
- Communication & Collaboration: Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial data clearly to management.
