Job Description:
The Agriculture Research Farm Manager has a primary responsibility for the implementation of maintenance on plots, planting, cultivation, irrigation, and equipment. This person must be able to work safely, have a sound agronomic science background and strong work ethic. This full time position is located in Santa Maria, CA.

Requirements:
- Current pesticide application license preferred.
- Significant training and experience in field plot techniques, GLP study conduct and crop husbandry preferred.
- Two years’ relevant experience required; degree in agricultural or biological areas helpful.
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Specific duties associated with the conduct of trials are detailed in SGS Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) These duties are briefly summarized below:
- All agronomic aspects of plot preparation.
- Plot design, layout and maintenance.
- Planting, cultivation and irrigation or plots.
- Equipment calibration/ Pesticide application under direction of Field Scientist.
- Sample collection, storage and shipment.
- Miscellaneous data collection.
- Maintain all equipment and facilities in accordance with applicable SOP’s and in a safe, clean, neat and organized manner.
- Ensure that assigned duties are completed according to applicable SOPs.
- Interface with Field Scientist and Quality Assurance during active phase of trials.
- GLP - Maintain thorough knowledge of GLP requirements, regulatory guidelines, and SGS SOP’s.
- May have to provide guidance and/or oversee temporary day field laborers.
- Maintain information required for protocol requirements and SOP’s.
- At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.
Skills:
- Must be able to operate agriculture farm equipment, such as tractors, cultivators, and sprayers.
- Must be detail-oriented, well organized and able to work independently and in a safe manner.
- Ability to keep detailed and accurate written records.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated organizational skills.
- Excellent communications skills required.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
- Must be able to successfully interact with a wide variety of people.
- Ability to handle a variety of projects effectively, efficiently and with confidentiality.
- Must be able to attend work regularly and dependably.
