Job Description:
General Description:
- Download temp recorders from shipments.
- Inspect incoming shipments for quality and condition.
- Complete an inspection sheet upon arrival with all pertinent information.
- Photograph the deficiencies of any incoming shipment.
- Responsible to determine if a sea container can be offloaded if there has been a temperature breach. Must inform Procurement Manager and Logistic Coordinator.
- Upload the information in the appropriate database
- Notify the appropriate personnel when shipments do not meet our specifications
- Insure shipments are tagged properly when they need to be held “hold procedure”, “’cash procedure’ or “dump procedure” and place the products in the right cooler/locations/slots.
- Address all quality related issues and refer any unresolved ones to QA Supervisor.
- Request USDA inspections if needed.
- Assist surveyors and USDA inspectors (if inspection was requested)
- Assist in filing documentation for department
- Assist in the evaluation of the shelf life products
- Assist QA Supervisor in quality issues, broken pallets, damaged product or damaged boxes.
- Report questionable product quality to Procurement Manager and QA Supervisor.
- Responsible for the QC inventory of each cooler and communication of it to Procurement Manager and QA Supervisor.
- Responsible for the rotation of the product based on QUALITY AND CONDITION.
- Assist QA supervisor with the ripening rooms, procedures and tasks related to ripennes.
- Prepare and select sample products for customers, shows.
- Maintain the warehouse in a clean and safe manner.
- Follow strict adherence to GMP’s HACCP and Food Safety policies and procedures.
- Treat and maintain company assets with sense of ownership.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of general fresh produce quality
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds to shoulder height and above
- Current forklift certificate
- Demonstrated ability to monitor and meet safety, productivity and quality goals.
- Excellent ability to work as a team and self driven
- Good attention to details and product quality
- Able to follow directions verbally and by phone.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in making recommendations and decisions within scope of responsibility.
- Must be able to work in a refrigerated environment from 34º F to 55º F depending of the cooler.
- Must complete course PACA course taught at USDA website.
- Must complete QA test.
Education Requirements:
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Computer/tablet literate and able to use a calculator.
Work Hours:
- Open shift based on customer demands (day, afternoons, evenings and nights), including Saturdays, Sundays and holydays.
- Vacation is not allowed from October to January. All vacation must be communicated in advance notice for proper department planning.
