JOB FILLED - Supply Chain Coordinator

Job Description: 

Berry People is a year-round, full-line shipper of organic and conventional berries and avocados, and owner of the Berry People® and Avo People® brands.  Headquartered in Hollister, California, the company’s ownership and key alliance partners hold important production assets in California, Mexico, Chile, and Peru.  All product is graded and allocated by pallet, and all growers are fully compliant with USDA and FDA regulations on Food Safety and organic practices.  Berry People operates with a strong company ethos along its entire supply chain that emphasizes complementarity, stewardship, and empathy.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual to handle all of our inbound and domestic inbound supply-chain coordination, working with growers and shippers from South America, Mexico, the US, and Canada, and coordinating between them and the Berry People sales team to provide timely and accurate supply information, improving sales results and the return to our grower-suppliers.

Working Relationships:

  • Reports to VP Sales
  • Interacts with Customers, Growers, Coolers, Carriers, and other Service Providers and Trading Partners
  • Works in collaboration with Senior Commodity-Sales Manager, Account-Commodity Managers, Accounting, Quality Assurance, Compliance, and Operations on daily internal business activity

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Production/supply forecasting (seasonal, 6-week, and 5-day system forecasts)
  • Grower-supplier shipment confirmation & coordination
  • Import expediting & communication with inbound 3rd party logistics
  • Issue purchase orders and related dispatch/inbound notification communications
  • Issue transfer orders, repack/regrade orders
  • Create and maintain purchase lot files
  • Maintain accurate accrual of all costs related to purchases and transfers
  • Reconcile purchase orders to shipping confirmations and warehouse receiving
  • Surge/shortage notification to sales team
  • Allocate lots to sales orders according to product grade and customer defect tolerance
  • Communicate pro-rates, delays, and/or supply cancellations
  • Maintain FIFO inventory rotation on a customer receiving date basis
  • Issue daily inventory aging report to sales team
  • Distribute “Grower Market Update” to grower-suppliers
  • Distribute “Internal Rundown” to sales team
  • Other duties as required
Education: 
  • Wholesale manufacturing, supply-chain operations, and sales/customer service experience desired
  • Agriculture, commodities, fresh produce, perishables sectors experience valuable
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, management, and/or operations preferred. Consideration given to combined Education Experience, and Track Record.
Skills: 
  • Proficient in use MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, & Power Point
  • High Proficiency in Excel for Planning and Analysis Purposes
  • Clear and Professional Verbal and Written Communication
  • Proficient in Sales Transaction System Software (Famous or similar)
  • Spanish-English Biliteracy Required
