Job Description:

In this crucial role, you will provide environmental, health and safety support to both plant and farm operations, ensuring all practices are in compliance. This role will aid with occupational injuries and investigations, safety training, safety inspections and all related Safety areas. The Safety Manager oversees and executes safety training schedules and training material packets.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Training the sanitation workforce in safe work practices as well as developing and maintaining a safe and effective work environment.
  • Ensures a safe working environment and re-enforces safe working practices and procedures.
  • Provides support and guidance to the Operations and Farm team on Safety compliance.
  • Ensure implementation and compliance with the Company’s IIPP and other EHS policies. Draft and revise safety policies as needed and oversee distribution to applicable employees and contractors. Develop and implement an annual safety action plan.
  • Develop and deliver ongoing and effective safety training for contractors and employees. Serve as management trainer – teach and hold managers accountable for safety training and consulting with their employees. Develops Tailgate Training curriculum specific to injury/near miss trends.
  • Ensures contractors follow all safety and equipment work practices.
  • Maintain and update Safety SOP’s.
  • Oversees the site Safety Training Plan.
  • Conducts periodic safety and health walk-through inspections of the workplace.
  • Conducts, monitors, and documents Safety Trainings.
  • Conducts and schedules Safety Training Certifications.
  • Conducts accident and injury investigations under the direction of HR.
  • Become a certified trainer in designated trainings.
  • Maintain required safety documents and files in a central location.
  • Maintains logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular, comprehensive on-site safety assessments and monitor corrective actions taken.
  • Develop and administer effective Safety Incentive Program.
  • Conducts job hazard analysis.
  • Conducts annual refresher training.
  • Ability to supervise team members, including overseeing food safety and sanitation departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support and improve the overall operation.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Spanish Bi-lingual a plus
  • Stay up to date with the latest developments in food safety and quality regulations and best practices.
  • Knowledge of chemicals used to clean and sanitize.
  • Ethical conduct
  • GFSI Certification Global G.A.P.
  • FSMA Train the Trainer Certified
  • Global GAP, latest version
  • Internal Auditing Certified
  • HACCP Certified
  • Knowledge of HAZMAT
  • Pest Control knowledge preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Leadership and supervisory experience are essential and required.
  • Strong time management skills
  • Possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure.
  • Must have a well-developed attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skill

  • Ability to work overtime.
  • Possess the ability to learn and develop computer skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Famous ERP Software

Physical Demands & Abilities

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time, working from a computer.
  • Ability to work in wet and cold environments.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, bend, and twist.
Salary: $85,000 or higher, depending on experience
