We are seeking a high-energy, detail-oriented Produce Procurement Professional to join our team and help drive our continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Procurement & Sourcing
- Develop and execute purchasing strategies tailored to Tropicals and Specialty Produce to ensure a reliable supply chain and competitive edge.
- Identify and evaluate new domestic and international growers, particularly within the Hispanic Roots and Specialty Pepper categories.
- Compare available goods with industry trends to determine appropriate pricing and identify market opportunities or potential shortages.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support local and national growing territory efforts, including Profit Growth Management and Commercial Marketing.
Vendor & Supplier Management
- Manage and nurture key vendor relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for growers and brokers.
- Negotiate and re-negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms for both new business and existing accounts.
- Follow up with suppliers concerning order status and delivery; communicate real-time delivery information to Sales and Logistics departments.
- Oversee the quality performance of assigned products, creating and executing brand-specific programs to achieve quality targets.
Purchasing & Inventory Operations
- Execute the full purchasing cycle, ensuring goods meet the specific quantity and quality expectations of the organization.
- Maintain meticulous records within the ERP system (Produce Pro experience is a plus) to track item files, pricing, and lead times.
- Manage inventory levels to achieve turn goals, participate in physical inventory tasks, and proactively control spoilage and shrink.
- Work closely with the transportation team to oversee end-to-end logistics, including scheduling, pick-up, and final delivery.
Forecasting & Performance Analysis
- Execute the forecasting process for assigned product portfolios to ensure accurate KPIs (Volume, Revenue, etc.).
- Perform weekly reviews of metrics to determine the success levels of promotions and adjust product volume accordingly.
- Track inventory data and historical usage to place timely replenishment orders and minimize out-of-stocks.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, seasonal availability, and new product advances to inform procurement decisions.
Collaboration & Compliance
- Partner with Demand Planning and Sales teams to align procurement with customer needs.
- Maintain a high level of cross-training across the full Delina Fresh product line to provide department-wide support.
- Ensure all procurement activities adhere to the company’s strict Food Safety and quality guarantee protocols.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- 3–5 years of Produce Procurement experience is required. * Deep knowledge of perishable products, specifically in Tropicals, Hispanic Roots, or Specialty Peppers.
- Proven experience in a fast-paced distribution or produce production environment.
- Advanced knowledge of produce distribution, seasonal availability, and global trends.
- Strong experience with ERP systems; Produce Pro proficiency is a significant plus.
Skills & Competencies
- Technology Competence: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
- Negotiation: Proven ability to manage business relationships and negotiate complex contracts with suppliers and brokers.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze and solve complex supply chain problems and interpret market data.
- Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Organization: High skill level in prioritizing work and managing time to meet deadlines with a sense of urgency.
Physical & Workplace Requirements
- Ability to work in a fast-paced office and warehouse environment.
- Willingness to inspect physical product to ensure quality standards are met.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, with required weekend availability based on seasonal demand and arrival schedules.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: From $75,000 per year (Commensurate with Experience)
- Benefits: Paid Time Off (PTO)
- Location: Sunrise, Florida (On-site)
