Job Description: 

We are a non-profit organization that is dedicated to Food Safety. Our mission is to help produce companies from start to finish with all their food safety needs from the latest information and technologies to training and certification.

We are currently looking for a Produce Food Safety Services Manager to join our team in La Grange, GA.

As the Produce Food Safety Services Manager you are responsible for the successful day-to-day management, growth and sustainability of the food safety program. You will provide food safety consultation services to clients, determine business strategies, formulate policies and provide overall direction for the program utilizing every available resource. You will also maintain compliance with all statutory, regulatory and ethical requirements regarding bylaws, policies, employee health, safety and employment.

Requirements: 
  • An undergraduate BA/BS degree is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the agricultural industry and food safety technical field.
  • Working knowledge of, application of, and ability to create HACCP plans. HACCP certification is preferred.
  • An understanding of microbiological sampling protocols, procedures, and ability to create microbial sampling programs for on-farm and post-harvest activities and environments is preferred.
  • Industry experience in management roles preferred.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Direct the day-to-day management of PFSS business activities.
  • Establish key performance indicators, metrics and measurement tools to monitor progress.
  • Direct an effective marketing program to communicate the message of program value, increase awareness throughout the state’s agricultural community and to connect-the-dots regarding participation and program benefits.
  • Work closely with clients and potential clients to design deliverables that are relevant to their needs.
  • Recruit, motivate, manage and retain the professional staff necessary to achieve organizational goals.
  • Maintain an inclusive working relationship with the board, staff, academic partners, members and donors that emphasizes open dialogue, complete transparency, personal chemistry and a unified approach.
  • Foster and retain professional relationships with industry trade organizations, academic partners, agricultural businesses, key business/university leaders, service providers, as well as outside public and governmental agencies.
  • Assume special activities and responsibilities as directed.

Strategic Initiatives:

  • Develop a plan for growing the business and establishing PFSS as a standalone, self-sustaining organization.
  • Develop a plan for increasing PFSS brand visibility and awareness. Mobilize key staff and community members to assist in plan implementation.
  • Identify potential revenue streams that would allow PFSS to be self-sustaining.
  • Evaluate the overall business to determine strengths and weaknesses; provide recommendations for the key areas of organizational and reporting structure, revenue mix, new market initiatives and finance/accounting and information systems.
  • Facilitate the communication of a compelling vision that includes on-going integration of various controlled and financial growth vehicles for the organization.
