JOB FILLED - Logistics Specialist

Job Description: 

The Specialist for Logistics is responsible for assisting all inbound freight needs of all applicable products across multiple perishable and commodity teams within Whole Foods Market. The Specialist for Logistics works closely with our carrier and vendor partners to ensure a quality, accurate and on-time delivery to all distribution centers, seafood facilities, external customers and processors along with a variety of other freight needs for the distribution and GPP teams.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Completes adjustments to quantities and pricing on booked purchase orders accurately reflecting communicated pro-rates, item cost, and freight through multiple changes
  • Accurately records and books freight rates upon load completion and updates rates as communicated for all internal and external loads
  • Works with global and regional purchasing teams, regional operations teams and order management teams as well as vendor and carrier partners to ensure timely resolution of all problem arrival reported issues
  • Works with all vendors, carriers, regional purchasing and operations teams on temperature verification, recording and maintenance programs
  • Assists all carrier and vendor partners in resolving and communicating loading issues
  • Assists all carrier and vendor partners in resolving and communicating arrival issues to the regions
  • Tracks and records all applicable internal purchasing, regional operations, vendor and carrier performance issues as assigned for process improvement
  • Communicates and provides arrival reporting to faciilities as assigned or upon request
  • Participate in carrier management processes such as selection, qualification and performance evaluation
  • Consistently demonstrate the highest quality customer service to Whole Foods Market’s regions and customers
  • Attend all GPP facility and team meetings
  • Document and code late trucks
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Skills: 
  • Accuracy in managing email flow of 300-600 messages per day
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team
  • Demonstrated analytical and geographical abilities
  • Ability to complete all tasks in a thorough, accurate and timely manner
  • Working understanding of and compliance with all WFM quality goals and thorough product knowledge
  • Demonstrated responsibility and accountability in recognizing and accomplishing all tasks
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in approach with all paperwork
  • Flexible schedule - evenings and weekends are required
Qualifications: 
  • Perishables business or equivalent academic training (4-5 years)
  • Logistics in a high volume environment (4-5 years)
