Job Description: 

Well established, Specialty Produce Company based in Los Angeles, CA. is seeking an experienced produce sales professional to join our team.  Our business continues to grow and we are in seeking a self-motivated person with a strong produce sales background high energy, and proven sales results.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Assist buyers, operations and other sales support with customer's needs and preferences.
  • Organize and provide assistance for special sales and promotions.
  • Identify and target new business development.
  • Achieve monthly targets and commit to sales results.
  • Responsible for entire sales process from first contact to close.
  • Responsible for individual accounts sales and gross profit.
  • Service existing accounts when needed, obtain orders, while planning and organizing daily work schedule to call potential sales outlets and other trade contacts.
  • Keep management informed by submitting daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual sales analyses.
  • Monitors competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc.
  • Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; making recommendations to management.
  • Participate in company food shows when necessary.
  • Establish food safety contacts and assist the Food Safety Coordinator with any communications regarding potential risks and recalls.
  • Salesperson must understand and follow all company food safety, general safety and security policies. Each member must be responsible for any unsanitary condition caused by his or her own work performed.
  • Follow warehouse and company procedures, company safety rules and food safety and security program. Bring unsafe conditions/actions to the attention of supervisor.
Skills: 
  • Bilingual helpful, English and Spanish
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in wholesale produce/retail/foodservice with established customer base.
  • Knowledge of the USDA grading and conditioning requirements, correct storage temperatures and specialty produce characteristics with regard to quality and seasonal growing trends.
  • Computer literate, Produce Pro software experience a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds safely.
  • Valid California Driver’s License free of major traffic violations.
  • Must be self-motivated, multi tasker and able to work independently.
  • Proven track record of strong sales, customer relations, meeting quotas and closing deals.
  • Ability to secure new business
  • Quick and accurate with paperwork, attentive to detail, and have good follow-through.
  • Must be a team player.
