We are currently seeking a Transportation Assistant candidate to work in our Transportation Department. The Transportation Assistant is an entry level position that is responsible for the logistical coordination, tracking deliveries and proper documentation as per the needs of the Sales Team.
- Experience in the food industry preferred
- Strong decision making skills
- Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy
- Ability to manage and direct Carriers and Drivers in a respectful but firm manner
- Demonstrate a team-oriented consensus-building approach to work
- Ability to prioritize, multitask and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced changing environment
- Knowledge of logistics, delivery processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective distribution of perishable items
- Understanding of trucking logistics within the US Marketplace
- Ability to work under high pressure
- Be able to work OT and weekends depending of needs
- Other duties may be assigned and required
- Coordinate and adjust his/her schedule on a weekly or monthly basis according to the needs of the group and the operation
- Scheduling and tracking of truck and air shipments
- Organize and manage all necessary documentation
- Meet regularly with the Sales Team and Sales Coordinators to plan for daily, weekly and monthly trucking needs
