Job Description:
We are currently seeking a Senior Food Safety Manager in Fresno, California.
Accountabilities:
- Provides leadership and coaching to the LPI VDM Managers with respect to Food Safety requirements
- Interact with vendors on a continuous basis to understand and drive vendor food safety compliance in conjunction with Loblaw requirements. Provide perspective on the corporate position and impact to the business.
- Monitor vendor third party food safety audits compliance and ensure that they are completed in accordance with Loblaw requirments . Ensure that all vendors meet established standards.
- Stay current on all legislation surrounding food safety and regulatory issues in the US, Canada and Offshore anticipate developments that could or will affect food safety and recommend and aid in the development of measures that address such developments.
- Provide an interface for regulatory authorities and vendors in regards to food safety concerns.
- Liaises directly with Food Safety/Quality Assurance/Regulatory teams and Produce Business unit to ensure congruency and execution of Food Safety and Quality policies and programs
- Manage and maintain effective communication with all functions within the Business unit, LPI, Loblaw Food Safety/Quality Assurance/Regulatory, Loblaw Brands, and with external clients such as Vendors, USDA, FDA, CFIA, Industry associations
- Conduct any general duties, specific projects and responsibilities as assigned or required in a timely and professional manner.
Role Requirements:
- Post secondary education preferably within food science, agricultural science or soil science
- 7-10 years’ experience in a Food Safety or Quality/Regulatory function
- Strong understanding of the US regulatory environment. Knowledge of the Canadian and Offshore regulatory environment is an asset
- Thorough knowledge of Food Safety and Quality Management Systems including GFSI primary production schemes
- Excellent communication skills, strong leadership presence
- Strong analytical and process improvement skills
- Excellent problem solving and time management skills
