Overview
As the Sales Manager, you will own the sales performance of our Florida office: setting clear direction, supporting your team, and delivering on regional sales objectives. With an established book of business in place, you will have the opportunity to refine how the office operates, deepen existing customer relationships, develop new accounts, and position the region for sustained growth. As the senior Oppy leader on the ground, you will represent the company with major customers across the region and set the tone for a professional, collaborative working environment.
Accountabilities
- Lead, coach, and develop the Florida sales and business development team, supporting individual growth and building strong working relationships across the group.
- Set clear, achievable goals for the office and for each team member, including sales targets, account visits, and priority market opportunities.
- Develop action plans grounded in current and forecasted market conditions, and align account assignments with each team member’s strengths and experience.
- Identify sales opportunities and develop account management strategies, working closely with category leadership, BDR, and other stakeholders to execute.
- Partner with the BDR team to expand existing accounts and develop new customer relationships across the region.
- Assess team capability and capacity over time and work with senior leadership on hiring and development plans to support the office’s growth.
- Lead regular team meetings to align on goals, progress, market intelligence, and priorities.
- Track sales and service performance against company KPIs, and provide regular, well-supported reporting to senior leadership.
- Stay engaged with day-to-day account management, supporting the team on customer needs, delivery and quality issues, inbound logistics, and order accuracy.
- Maintain a strong presence with customers through regular visits, building and deepening key relationships in the region.
- Represent Oppy at industry events, staying current on trends and opportunities, and bringing back insights that inform our strategy.
- Foster a professional, customer-focused, and collaborative office environment in alignment with Oppy’s values.
- Identify issues that could affect the business and collaborate across the company to address them proactively.
- Oversee office administrative responsibilities, including trouble files, freight bills, and P/L review on sales purchases, delegating appropriately.
Required Knowledge & Abilities
- Sales Leader — Or Ready to Be One. Whether you’ve led sales teams before or are a seasoned sales professional ready to step into management, you bring a thoughtful, people-first approach and the credibility to lead.
- Business Minded. You understand the principles of strategic planning, resource coordination, and operational management, and you know how to translate strategy into clear, executable plans.
- Customer-Focused. You build effective relationships internally and externally, and you are committed to delivering on customer expectations.
- Strong Communicator. You communicate clearly and professionally in writing and in person, and you listen carefully before responding.
- Organized and Decisive. You set priorities, meet commitments, and weigh trade-offs thoughtfully when making decisions.
- Industry-Aware. You stay current on trends, standards, and developments in fresh produce, and you bring that perspective to your work.
Ideal Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, agriculture, economics, or sales and marketing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Agribusiness or industry-specific training is an asset.
- Minimum, 5–6 years of direct selling experience in the produce industry, specifically with major accounts. Previous sales management experience is an asset, though we will also consider a seasoned sales professional ready to take the next step into a leadership role.
Why Work for Oppy?
- An established leader in the fresh produce industry, with a continued commitment to innovation, improvement, and sustainability.
- A culture built on professionalism, collaboration, and genuine care for our people, our customers, and our growers.
- A leadership opportunity with meaningful scope and the backing of a global business with more than 165 years of history.
- A competitive total compensation package, including 401k match and a range of benefits packages to fit your needs.
