Job Description: 

Sofo Foods was started in the early 1940's when Antonio Sofo began to service the growing Italian community of Toledo, Ohio. Today, we are the leading Italian food service provider in America, servicing thousands of pizzerias and all types of restaurants. Our corporate office and distribution center is still based in Toledo Ohio today; however we also operate distribution centers in New Albany, IN, Suwanee, GA and Houston TX.  Currently, we're in our fourth generation of family ownership and management.

We are currently looking for a Produce Merchandiser/Account Manager to join our team in Houston, TX.

As a Produce Merchandiser/Account Manager you are responsible for leading the Company's growth initiative for selling the finest fresh produce to the finest restaurants in the State of Texas. This position requires a wide range of skills from high-level thinking to tactical category development.  In this role you will develop new accounts and expand the presence of Sofo Foods in the Fresh Produce category with restaurants in the Houston area. 

If you love, and have experience with fresh produce, sourcing, and selling we would love to consider you for the role.  This is an outside sales position and requires a large amount of travel in the Houston area.

Requirements: 
  • 1 – 3 years’ experience working in a wholesale produce environment is required, preferably as an account representative.
  • Strong in-depth knowledge of fresh produce and seasonality.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in sales, marketing, communications or related major.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and positive attitude.
  • Detail oriented and organized.
  • Must be able to communicate in a professional manner and respond with timeliness.
  • Self-starter who is able to manage your own work.
  • Ability to write and present information effectively to all departments.
  • Proven team player, self-motivated, and independent thinker.
  • Passionate about food and helping customers with their needs.
  • Microsoft Office – Word and Excel
  • Travel – Houston Area
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, a safe driving record and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Consistently research the marketplace for new opportunities, and stay current with competitor performance within the market - by calling on existing and prospective restaurants to assess the customer’s fresh produce needs.
  • Responsible for assisting and making recommendations to the procurement, operation and training departments to ensure the Fresh Produce category is on track with growth targets.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Purchasing Department with seasonal product sourcing.
  • Responsible for creating and executing regional training sessions to increase the education and ability level of all Sales Department and Fresh Produce Specialist.
  • Provide regular feedback to the Management Team to ensure continuous development in improving and enhancing the team to achieve company growth objectives.
