Staff Accountant

Malena Produce, Inc., a growing distributor in the fresh produce industry, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. This position will play a key role in managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring financial accuracy, and providing timely financial reporting to support business decisions and company growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily cash reconciliations and monitor cash flow activities.
• Prepare quarterly and annual financial reports and statements.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Analyze operating costs and identify areas for improved efficiency.
• Maintain and reconcile grower accounts, including the calculation of advances and preparation of final settlements.
• Process banking transactions, including wire transfers.
• Manage petty cash accounts and related reconciliations.
• Support year-end closing processes.
• Coordinate with external CPA, auditors, tax advisors, and other financial service providers.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and reporting requirements.
• Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance accounting and financial operations.
• Prepare management reports and provide financial insights to support executive decision-making.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software applications.
• Experience in the fresh produce industry is preferred but not required.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
