Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY: The Assistant Buyer will assist the Director of Packaging with monitoring Company packaging inventories, assessing future demand, placing and tracking open order status ensuring adequate supply of packaging materials for all packing houses. The Assistant Buyer will maintain electronic and hardcopy records, communicate with vendors and internal staff to facilitate invoicing payment, and serve as the central point of communication and support for packaging inventory.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: The Assistant Buyer will directly report to and work under the supervision and direction of the Director of Packaging.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The essential job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collecting and monitoring Company and vendor inventory quantities;
  • Assessing inventory levels against projected future needs;
  • Placing, confirming, and tracking purchase orders with vendors;
  • Communicating with internal facilities, departments, and vendors;
  • Reconciling vendor invoicing;
  • Tracking actual packaging usage compared to projections;
  • Assisting in maintaining packaging specifications; and,
  • Assisting in the development of new packaging.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years of experience in purchasing, inventory or supply chain management, or related;
  • A.A or B.S. degree in packaging, food science and technology, supply chain management, or equivalent experience in the agricultural industry, preferred;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook; and,
  • Valid driver’s license, insurable by the Company’s insurance policy.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;
  • Detail-oriented with good numerical and organizational skills; and,
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple responsibilities and tasks in a fast-paced environment.

COMPENSATION:
Hourly compensation offered is $25.00.
