We are looking for an Organic Farm Agronomist to develop and maintain an integrated blueberry, blackberry, and strawberry fertility and pesticide program for a large sized family farm in Western Oregon and Southern Washington. Applicants will have a passion for organic farming. This position involves someone who can develop and execute a long-term soil health, soil fertility, plant health, and pest management program, using extensive soil and leaf analysis to assist in developing a fertility program for berries to correct soil nutrient deficiencies. Experience in blueberry, blackberry, and strawberry production is desirable. This person must be an experienced pro in growing operations, someone who has a successful track record of team building/development, planning, execution of deliverables and making things happen. The position requires a person who likes to bring people together, embracing the culture while being inspired about the vision of the company. This person will lead a team and the further development of a world-class farming operation. They will be responsible for the whole farm agronomy 800-100 acres already in production.

Qualifications: 

  • Multiple years of experience in growing organic berries (particularly blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries).
  • Upbeat, strong communicator.
  • Reliability, willingness to work long hours, and interest in learning new skills.
  • Experience supervising others and leading a team.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • 10-15 years of experience in a management role while in a farming or agriculture environment with a focus in evolving growing techniques with a strong preference working with berries.
  • A hands on leader who will roll up their sleeves and do what it takes to get the job done while demonstrating the opportunity to lead, grow, and develop a growing operation.
  • Advanced horticultural skills and ability to learn new horticultural/agricultural techniques.
  • Above average understanding of plant physiology.
  • Familiarity with organic growing techniques.
  • Experience with managing annual budgets
  • Working knowledge of GlobalGap and/or other Food Safety/Organic certifications.
  • Ability to drive a tractor also useful.
  • A hands on leader who will roll up their sleeves and do what it takes to get the job done while demonstrating the opportunity to lead, grow, and develop a growing operation.
