Job Description:
Live Oak Farms is now in its 85th year of operation, growing fresh tomatoes and peppers from June to November. We’re a diversified family-farming operation that’s long been active in the development of commodity specific food safety guidance, including that for the fresh tomato industry.
We’re currently seeking a full-time food safety professional to join our team, who will manage our food safety programs in the field and at our three packing facilities in Le Grand, California.
Job Responsibilities & Duties:
- Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and local regulations, including the provisions of the Food Safety Modernization Act.
- HAACP analysis and the development, implementation, and validation of food safety protocol, including that of commodity specific guidance, in the field, at harvest, and the packinghouse.
- Implementation of policy and procedures to meet the requests of customers.
- Training of field and packinghouse personnel in GAP and/or GMP requirements.
- Conducting internal audits based upon multiple audit schemes; development and implementation of corrective action plans.
- Development of continuous improvement strategies.
- Responsible for food safety documentation control.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience & Educational Requirements:
- Comprehensive knowledge of HAACP, GMPs, and GAPs.
- Three years food safety experience, preferably in tomato and/or bell pepper production and post-harvest best practices.
- Primus 2.1 or 1.6 experience.
- Strong oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in Excel and report writing.
