We have an immediate opening for a Food Service Sales Account Manager for the West Coast (California and surrounding states).

The Food Service Sales Account Manager achieves maximum sales profitability, growth and account infiltration on the West Coast by effectively selling the company’s products (fresh-cut apple slices, applesauce, and juices) with a concentration on the K-12 foodservice market.

The Food Service Sales Account Manager personally contacts and secures new business accounts/customers and promotes, sells, and secures orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-based approach.  The Sales Account Manager will also demonstrate products and services to existing/potential customers while assisting them in selecting those best suited to meet their needs.  Overnight travel is estimated at 75%.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Establishes, develops and maintains business relationships with current customers and prospective customers in California and surrounding states. 
  • Makes telephone calls, in-person visits, and presentations to existing and prospective customers, distributors, schools, etc.
  • Researches prospective customers and for information to determine their potential.
  • Develops clear and effective written proposals/quotations for current and prospective customers.
  • Expedites the resolution of customer problems and complaints.
  • Coordinates sales effort with marketing, sales management, accounting, logistics and technical service groups.
  • Analyzes the territory/market’s potential and determines the value of existing and prospective customer’s value to the organization.
  • Identifies advantages and compares organization’s products/services to competitors.
  • Plans and organizes personal sales strategies by maximizing the Return on Time Investment for the West Coast.
  • Supplies management with oral and written reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services.
  • Keeps abreast of product applications, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities, advertising and promotional trends through the reading of pertinent literature and consulting with marketing and technical service areas.
  • Participates in trade shows and conventions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Language Skills                               

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Mathematical Skills                               

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability                               

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

  •  Knowledge of Excel Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Other Qualifications                               

  • Overnight travel estimated at 75%.  
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with no restrictions.

Qualifications: 
Education and Experience:
  • Five (5) or more years of foodservice sales experience.
  • Sales and marketing experience in the K-12 market segment of California preferred.
