JOB FILLED - Quality Assurance Inspector

Job Description: 

The Produce Quality Assurance Inspector is an integral member of the Freshouse Team and key to the Freshouse Experience.

As a QA Inspector, your ability to verify quality, condition and counts of incoming produce on bill of lading and compare to USDA standards and purchase order descriptions will help assure both the quality and accurate accounting of our products.

You will complete produce inspections and provide inspection details to the sales team thru the effective use of technology and communication via phone and email, in a fast paced packing and warehouse environment.

Requirements: 
  • Must have 2+ years direct produce knowledge.
  • Preferred knowledge of USDA and PACA rules.
  • Preferred knowledge of proper use of produce inspection equipment.
  • Preferred experience using Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook) as well as experience working in ERP systems, Produce Pro experience a plus.

  • Communication - Speaks clearly and persuasively in all situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions. Possess good written communication skills and be able to read, write and comprehend English.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Inspect all varieties of vegetables and fruits according to USDA standards
  • Work closely with existing QA team to complete inspections on outbound orders ensuring all orders ship with quality product
  • Complete product inspections on inbound, storage, packing and re-grade lines
  • Transcribes inspection information on to Quality Control Inspection Report/Inspection App
  • Coordinate onsite USDA inspection services as required
  • Work closely with produce buyers to determine disposition items that fail to meet inspection criteria
  • Knowledgeable of current QA inspection forms and systems to reply to buyers
  • Pursue continued understanding of new product specifications, USDA and customer guide lines
Education: 
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • College Graduate (BA or BS) preferred
  • Must be able to identify both condition and grade type defects
  • Produce experience preferred
  • Bilingual, American English and Spanish preferred
Skills: 
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
