Financial Analyst - Operations Support
Job description
Location: Salinas, CA (with seasonal travel to Imperial Valley, CA & Yuma, AZ)
Compensation: $90,000 – $130,000 annually (DOE)
Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Role
AgData Service Inc. is a large, industry-leading agricultural production company based in the Salinas Valley. We are seeking a highly analytical and bilingual Financial Analyst. In this role, you will serve as the crucial bridge between our financial objectives and our on-the-ground field operations.
You will primarily focus on analyzing the financial and operational impacts of our ancillary support departments, including Trucking, Fleet Maintenance, Procurement, Worker Housing, and Sanitization. Because our growing operations transition to the desert during the winter months, this role requires seasonal travel to support our teams in the Imperial Valley and Yuma, AZ. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who can dive deep into operational data, identify cost drivers, and communicate actionable insights directly to both the corporate accounting team and field operational staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational & Financial Analysis: Monitor, analyze, and report on the financial performance of ancillary support operations (Trucking, Fleet, Maintenance, Procurement, and Sanitization).
- Housing Procurement & Budgeting: Source, negotiate, and secure seasonal workforce housing (e.g., H-2A or relocated staff housing) for both the Salinas Valley and our winter operating areas. Manage the housing budget, track expenses, and forecast future accommodation costs.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the primary financial liaison, actively interfacing between the corporate Accounting department and Field Operations management.
- Bilingual Field Communication: Utilize bilingual skills (English/Spanish) to effectively communicate financial goals, budget updates, and process improvements to operational staff and field teams.
- Cost & Efficiency Tracking: Evaluate operational efficiencies, track labor and material costs, and identify areas for cost-saving opportunities within fleet management and sanitization processes.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and month-end variance analysis for all assigned operational departments.
- KPI Development: Develop, track, and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboard reporting to help operational leaders make data-driven decisions.
Required Qualifications
- Bilingual Proficiency (Critical): Must be fully bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal), with the ability to translate complex financial concepts into clear, actionable information for field staff.
- Education: No degree required. A high school diploma or equivalent is sufficient, provided the candidate meets the experience requirements.
- Experience: 3+ years of progressive, hands-on experience in financial analysis, operational accounting, or a similar role. Experience in agriculture, logistics, manufacturing, or supply chain is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (financial modeling, pivot tables, complex formulas). Experience with large ERP systems and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI) is a strong plus.
- Travel Requirements: Must be able and willing to travel periodically to our winter operating areas in the Imperial Valley, CA, and Yuma, AZ during the winter harvest season (typically November through March).
- Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with a hands-on approach. Must be comfortable spending time out in the field/facilities as well as in the corporate office.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $90,000 – $130,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
