Sales Manager - Fresh Produce
Job description
WYCO Produce is a growth-focused importer and distributor of fresh produce, building scalable, year-round programs with both international and domestic growers.
We are seeking a hands-on Sales Manager to lead, scale, and hold accountable a high-performance sales team. This is not a passive management role. This is a roll-up-your-sleeves leadership position responsible for driving revenue, margin, and team performance daily.
What You Will Own:
- Total sales performance across all accounts and categories
- Coaching, developing, and holding accountable current and future sales reps
- Building a team of high-output producers (not order takers)
- Driving weekly volume, pricing discipline, and margin execution
- Aligning sales with sourcing, logistics, and inventory to ensure flawless execution
What You Will Do:
Sales Leadership & Team Performance
- Lead from the front—set the pace, expectations, and standards
- Manage daily sales activity, pricing decisions, and account execution
- Track performance against volume, revenue, and margin targets
- Coach reps on program selling vs. transactional selling
- Recruit and onboard top-tier sales talent with existing books of business
Revenue Growth & Account Strategy
- Expand key accounts across retail, foodservice, and wholesale channels
- Identify and close new business opportunities
- Oversee development of structured, recurring sales programs with consistent weekly volume
- Participate directly in high-level customer relationships and negotiations
Market Execution & Pricing Strategy
- Maintain real-time understanding of market conditions, supply dynamics, and pricing movement
- Guide pricing strategy across the team to maximize movement and margin
- Identify and capitalize on ads, promotions, and contract opportunities
Operational Alignment
- Work closely with sourcing and logistics to ensure:
- Accurate forecasts
- Consistent arrivals
- Proper inventory flow
- Eliminate disconnects between sales commitments and supply execution
Profitability & Accountability
- Own and manage sales budgets and profitability
- Conduct regular performance reviews with the team
- Drive accountability across all levels—numbers matter
What We Expect:
- You have run a produce sales team before and driven real volume
- You know how to build structure, enforce discipline, and improve performance
- You are comfortable making fast decisions in a volatile market
- You can balance relationships and results—but results come first
- You are not afraid to hold people accountable and make changes when needed
Qualifications:
- 7+ years in fresh produce sales
- 4+ years managing a sales team with measurable results
- Strong relationships across retail, foodservice, wholesale, and distribution
- Deep understanding of the produce supply chain, logistics, and market dynamics
- Proven ability to drive revenue growth and margin improvement
- Experience with imported and program-based commodities is highly valued
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
Compensation & Location:
- Competitive base salary + performance-based bonus + benefits
