Job Description: 

Western Precooling is the leading full-service provider of precooling equipment, facilities and services. We are recruiting for an Engineer to support the development, maintenance and quality control of Western Precooling and its affiliated companies’ equipment and cold storage facilities. Position is based in Oxnard, CA, with expected travel to WPS locations and partner sites, such as Yuma-AZ, Oxnard, El Centro, Huron and the San Joaquin Valley.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIEIS include the following, as well as other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned:

  • Work as part of the Engineering Team to support Service Shop’s and Production Teams to ensure that the Facility and Portable Equipment systems are functioning properly and efficiently. This includes planning, designing, installing, testing, troubleshooting, training, and improving electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation systems.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance with the installation, operation, and maintenance of equipment and facilities. Works closely with field technician and Engineering Team to create and update equipment user manuals.
  • Ensures that equipment records of design, compliance, & maintenance are maintained.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance schedules coordinated and acted upon.
  • Collaborate in the research development and implementation of strategies to continually improve equipment safety, reliability, and housekeeping.
  • Performs engineering computation for equipment design and maintenance.
  • Support field data collection and field inspections.
  • Participate in external and internal audits.
  • Read and provide interpretation of Design codes and standards, to include local, state, and federal applicable regulations.
  • Collaborate with team to document process changes through management of change procedures. This includes accurately recording and communicating modifications to ensure transparency.
  • Create and modify comprehensive standard operating procedures (SOPs) for new equipment or equipment upgrades. Develop clear instructions and guidelines that enhance operational efficiency, accuracy, and safety, as necessary.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Must be well organized and a self-starter.
  • Must be able to multi-task, prioritize and adjust tasks in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office platform, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Dynamics, etc.
  • Database entry and utilization.
  • Proficiency in CAD.
  • Bilingual- Spanish preferred.
  • Must be able to travel monthly pending on business necessity.
  • Prior experience working with piping systems, positive displacement & rotary vane compressors, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, and instruments. *Industrial Refrigeration application preferred.
  • Demonstrated engineering leadership abilities, capable of strategically guiding operators and maintenance teams to ensure efficient and safe operations. Strong communication and collaboration skills to promote a productive working environment.
  • Strong mechanical skills associated with equipment operations and equipment maintenance.
  • Hands-on experience working with engineering test equipment and instruments, specifically process transmitters, safety equipment, and PLC controls to effectively monitor and control processes to achieve a desired outcome.
  • Prior experience with P&IDs, Management of Change, and Process Hazard Analysis.
