Since 1994, Maui Fresh International has been a leader in providing exceptional service and fresh, quality produce. Our story began with the Clouthier Family, who started farming tomatoes and peppers in the Sinaloa Valley over 60 years ago. This rich heritage laid the foundation for our company, which evolved into Maui Fresh International in 2007. We pride ourselves on establishing and maintaining long-term relationships with local and national food service companies, retailers, and distributors, offering them high-quality produce and valuable services.

As a Senior Salesperson, you will be responsible for driving sales growth and achieving gross margin targets. This role requires a deep understanding of the fresh produce market, superior communication skills, and developing and maintaining strong relationships with customers and vendors. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sense of urgency, the drive to succeed, and the ability to manage time and priorities effectively.
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Identify and develop a list of potential accounts, comprising current accounts with higher potential and new prospects.
  • Actively promote and sell company products, focusing primarily on long-term contracts with occasional market-driven opportunities.
  • Collaborate with team members to strategize product promotions for mutual accounts.
  • Consistently meet or exceed monthly sales and margin goals maintaining an overall gross profit.
  • Formulate detailed plans for top prospective accounts, focusing on product opportunities, cross-selling, and establishing key contacts.
  • Conduct in-person sales calls to cultivate relationships and close deals.
  • Build and strengthen relationships, including meals, entertainment, and customer appreciation events.
  • Hold quarterly meetings with key vendors to discuss opportunities and maintain strong partnerships.
  • Ensure products meet customer specifications and are delivered on time and complete.
  • Respond to customer inquiries within a maximum response time.
  • Quickly address and resolve customer issues, providing clear timeframes for resolution and promptly informing management of significant issues.
  • Achieve designated gross margin targets from products purchased through personal and team efforts.
  • Set product pricing following company guidelines, market conditions, and inventory levels.
  • Provide accurate market condition updates for purchased products.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors regarding purchase orders, adjustments, and closing open POs.
  • Meet regularly with teammates to review product promotion opportunities and develop action plans.
  • Perform quarterly reviews of key accounts and overall sales success.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of leads, opportunities, call notes, and communications.
  • Foster positive working relationships with sales team members, operations, and accounts receivable.


Qualifications: 
  • Extensive knowledge of the fresh produce market, including commodities, growing regions, seasons, and sources.
  • Knowledge of and contacts with key regional and national retailers and ability to bring new business on board.
  • 5 years plus of successful key account sales in the produce industry.
  • Expertise in at least one commodity.
  • Strong sales and presentation skills.
  • Significant face-to-face sales experience, including key account sales.
  • High sense of urgency and a strong drive to succeed.
  • Integrity and commitment to company values and ethics.
  • Resilience in dealing with setbacks.
  • Effective active listening and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong follow-through and prioritization abilities.
  • Efficient time management to focus on high-payoff activities.

  • Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and make sound business decisions quickly.
