JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an Assistant Account Manager to support day-to-day order management, customer service, and account coordination activities for Markon’s Member‑Distributors.
Working closely with Account Managers and cross-functional teams, this role processes orders, manages documentation, communicates with customers, and helps ensure accurate, timely execution of product flow. The Assistant Account Manager functions as a key member of the Account Management team by maintaining strong customer relationships, resolving issues proactively, and supporting operational needs in a fast-paced environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists the Account Managers to provide day-to-day customer support; troubleshoots customer issues.
- Processes order changes and updates.
- Processes orders as needed, including checking notes.
- Dispatches carriers.
- Communicates order discrepancies.
- Sends pre and final manifests (order confirmations).
- Handles transportation and dispatch issues.
- Processes credits, rejections and protections.
- Contributes to process improvement as opportunities arise.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree in business, supply chain, agriculture, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in customer service, account support, logistics coordination, or a similar office-based role.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook) and the ability to learn new systems and databases quickly.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and effectively with internal teams, customers, and vendors.
- Ability to manage customer inquiries and resolve issues in a calm, professional manner in a fast paced environment.
- Solid attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accuracy in order processing and documentation.
- Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts, including percentages, ratios, and volume calculations, in practical business situations.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to gather information, identify issues, and determine appropriate next steps.
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and follow through on tasks with a high degree of reliability and accountability.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, agriculture, or a related field.
- Experience in produce, foodservice, logistics, or supply chain operations.
- Prior experience with order entry, inventory systems, or ERP platforms.
- Familiarity with transportation or dispatch coordination processes.
- Experience supporting account managers, purchasing teams, or customer accounts in a high volume environment.
- Exposure to pricing, billing, or basic accounting processes (e.g., credits, short pays, reconciliations).
WORK LOCATION
In-office (Salinas, CA).
COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
