The Position:

As a pivotal player for the Sales teams at DLJ Produce, you will play a key role in building relationships with new clients and nurturing existing accounts. We are on the lookout for a sales leader in the fresh produce industry – someone who is passionate about maximizing sales and profit within the top-tier customer base. The ideal candidate will showcase a deep love for the fresh produce sector and possess a comprehensive understanding of the national retail landscape. A background in Grape and Citrus selling is a must!

In this role, you'll collaborate closely with the leadership team and peers to craft effective sales tactics and strategies. Becoming an authority in the specialty produce category, you'll leverage your industry knowledge and sales prowess to drive sales volume growth and boost profitability.

Essential Functions:

  • Grow DLJ Produces’ retail grocery and food service segments, while building a platform that sells to current DLJ Produce retail grocers and distributor network throughout the globe.
  • Successful candidate will become an essential leader, responsible for creating a business that delivers to the corporate objectives.  
  • Efficiently develop, while collaborating with the Sales Team, strategic business plans to penetrate the specific retail grocery accounts.
  • This role will succeed by thinking outside-the-box through analytical skills, strategic planning, negotiation skills and attention-to-detail approach.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and advocate for customer products and feature requests to improve offerings and service on existing and prospect accounts.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in a professional manner through in-person conversation, phone calls, email, virtual meetings, and instant messaging.

 Competencies, Education, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related field preferred
  • Proven track record of growth within your current customer base, showcasing success in new customer development and retention.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fresh produce sales, with a current retailer customer base.
  • In-depth experience and understanding of the U.S. retail sector.
  • A strong desire to win and consistently surpass competition with highly developed negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, ensuring consistent engagement with customers.
  • Team player mindset with a positive attitude and a resilient backbone.
  • An outgoing personality that enhances your ability to connect with others.
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • A strong sense of responsibility, acting with integrity, leading by example, and promoting the company positively and professionally.

 Compensation Structure:

  • Base salary + Bonus.
