Job description

Sierra Produce is a fresh fruit sales and marketing company representing grower/exporters from Chile, Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Italy, Greece, South Africa and the USA. We represent a substantial volume of fresh fruit products imported for ultimate sale to the U.S. and Canadian markets. Our combined imports to both the East and West Coasts of the United States are currently 6 to 7 million boxes and we have been growing steadily since our inception in 1995.

In order to service our customer base, Sierra Produce has two strategically located sales offices. Our West Coast sales office, also acting as our corporate headquarters, is based in Aliso Viejo, CA.  Our East Coast sales office is located in Swedesboro NJ. Positions for a Senior Salesperson are only available on the East Coast and will be an on-site position.

Our grower/exporters are increasing their diversity in their respective commodities and has created new opportunities for us to expand our product lines. Our product line consists of table grapes, stonefruit, citrus, pears, apples, kiwi, and blueberries. To successfully grow these categories, we are looking for a Senior Salesperson to help drive sales and assist with our future retail sales growth.   

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Communication with our sales teams on future and current inventories, market pricing, quality/condition of fruit, competing products, customer list utilization, etc.
  • Work with sales management regarding future ad lid pricing, volume projections, promotions, special packaging, etc.
  • Maintain and service your own customer base while coaching less experienced salespeople as well
  • Communicate and maintain a close relationship with our Quality Control team reviewing quality/condition of fruit throughout the importation and sales process.
  • Working with retailers to develop seasonal program sales.

Requirements:

  • Results-focused, tenacious, and creative mindset to finish on top.  Driven.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and succeed with limited direct supervision.
  • Demonstrates success in building and maintaining relationships with retail accounts.
  • Prior sales/category management in the fresh produce industry.
  • Strong business, economic, and marketing background.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven planning and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Computer literacy required: proficiency in standard business applications included in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.  Famous software experience also helpful.
  • Periodic International and Domestic travel is required.
